Northumberland House traded as ‘The Victoria Hotel’ until 1940. It was then requisitioned by the War Office and occupied by the Crown. The doors of 8 Northumberland remained closed to the public for 70 years. A multi-million pound restoration was undertaken and the doors of 8 Northumberland were once again open to the public in the Spring of 2010.

The Ballroom has the luxury of possessing one of the grandest Victorian interiors remaining in London – reflecting and revealing its fascinating historical beginnings. Exceptional 10.3m high beautiful ceilings, adorned with the restored original chandeliers, set against stunning stained glass windows. With a classic yet contemporary feel, this timeless setting will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression all those who pass through its doors.
