      Sonning is an affluent town on the River Thames approximately five miles south of Henley-on-Thames, 4.5 miles east of Reading, 21 miles west of Windsor and 38 miles west of central London. The Old Stables is east of Thames Street (B478) and originally formed part of The Great House Hotel nearby. Local amenities including the Mill Theatre, The Bull, a well regarded public house, the Coppa Club restaurant and the celebrated French Horn hotel and restaurant. More extensive facilities can be found in the nearby towns of Henley-on-Thames, Marlow and Reading. There is a wide variety of schools in the area including Reading Blue Coat School in Sonning and Shiplake College in Henley. The moorings are located on the north west side of the Thames to the west of the town centre in a pleasant open country setting.
