    Description

Shelley Cottage is a charming three storey town house, forming part of a larger historic Grade II Listed building. The site is believed to have originally been occupied by a late 16th century home, rebuilt in the 18th century as one large town house. Early in the 19th century, the literary greats Mary Shelley and Percy Shelley purchased the home, where Mary penned her masterpiece Frankenstein. They moved from the property in 1818 and at some point afterward the property was split into four homes that remain in place today. The properties are particularly handsome in architecture, with a tall flat façade interspersed with covered storm porches. Ornate detail to the window openings and frames, along with an attractive roofline, provide architectural interest.
